How to tell if a safety training certificate is real

A training certificate is a claim, not proof. The image or PDF itself — a name, a course title, a signature block, a seal — can be recreated by anyone with basic design software, for a real course or a fabricated one. What actually distinguishes a genuine document from a fake one is not how official it looks. It is whether the organization that supposedly issued it keeps an independent record you can check the document against.
The test that actually works
Ask for the one thing a forged document usually cannot fake convincingly: a lookup. A real training provider that stands behind its certificates gives you a way to enter an ID and get an independent answer, not just look at the document and decide it seems legitimate. If a provider has no verification page at all, or verification is not offered, that is worth noticing on its own.

A document that is not one of ours
We can only verify what we issued. Common questions
Can a training certificate or card be faked?
Any document that is just an image or a PDF, with no independent record behind it, can be recreated or altered by anyone with basic design software. That is true of a certificate of completion just as much as a physical card. The document itself proves nothing on its own — what proves something is whether the issuer keeps a record you can check it against.
How do I check a Certified Training USA certificate?
Every certificate we issue has a unique ID tied to a record on our servers: the course, the holder's name, and the completion date. Enter that ID at our verification page and you get an instant yes-or-no against our own records, no account needed. A certificate that looks legitimate but returns nothing there was not issued by us.
How do I check an official OSHA 10/30 Outreach card?

What should an employer or inspector actually check?
Whether the document names a specific, checkable record — a certificate ID, a card number — and whether the issuer provides a real way to confirm it independent of the document itself. A document with no verification path is not proof of anything, regardless of how official it looks.
