Common questions
Is this a food handler card?
No. This is food handler safety awareness training and it is not an accredited food handler card programme. Many states and counties require the card to come from a provider accredited under ANSI/ASTM E2659, and this course is not accredited. If your employer or health department requires an accredited card, this course will not satisfy that requirement.
Will this satisfy my state or county requirement?
It depends entirely on where you work, and you should check before buying. Food handler requirements are set at state and often county level, and they vary widely: some jurisdictions require a card from an accredited provider, some accept employer-provided training, and some have no requirement at all. Check with your local health department first.
Is this course ANSI or ANAB accredited?
No. It is employer-directed food safety awareness training. Where a jurisdiction requires accredited training, you need a provider holding accreditation under ANSI/ASTM E2659, which we do not currently hold.
Who is this course for, then?
Employers training food-service staff on safe food handling as part of their own training programme, and workers in jurisdictions that do not require an accredited card. It supports the person-in-charge knowledge expectations in the FDA Food Code and produces a verifiable completion record for the employer’s files.
What does the course cover?
Personal hygiene and handwashing, time and temperature control, cross-contamination and cross-contact, cleaning and sanitising, receiving and storage, and recognising when a worker should not be handling food. It follows FDA Food Code practice.
How often should food safety training be repeated?
There is no single federal interval. Most employers retrain annually or on a cycle set by their local health department, and many jurisdictions attach their own renewal period to a card. Follow whichever is stricter: your employer policy or your local requirement.
