This course is $49 for one operator, and the certificate is included rather than charged separately. Teams pay less per seat: from two seats there is a discount, and by ten seats it is 25 percent off. Twenty-five or more can be invoiced on net terms with a purchase order instead of paying by card.

You can find free forklift awareness material, and some of it is genuinely useful. What does not come free is the documented training record an employer needs on file, because producing, assessing and certifying it costs something. Be careful with sites advertising a free certificate: the training is often free and the certificate is not, which you discover at the end. For the classroom portion, yes. OSHA does not require a classroom or an in-person instructor, and 1910.178 does not approve or accredit training providers at all, so nobody can sell you an OSHA-approved card. What the standard does require is three things: formal instruction, practical training on the truck, and an evaluation of the operator in the workplace. Online covers the first properly. Any provider claiming their online course alone makes someone a certified operator is misreading the standard.

Yes, in all fifty states. The formal instruction has no location requirement, so where you sit for it does not matter. What is local is the hands-on part, and that happens at your own site on the truck you actually operate, evaluated by your employer. That is why looking for a training centre near you is often the slower route: the classroom half is done today from anywhere, and the practical half was always going to happen at your workplace.

Most people finish in under two hours. It is self-paced, so you can stop and come back, and the certificate is issued the moment you pass rather than mailed later.

The operator must be re-evaluated at least once every three years. It comes sooner than that if the operator is seen driving unsafely, is involved in an accident or near miss, is assigned a different type of truck, or the workplace changes in a way that affects safe operation. The three-year mark is a ceiling, not a schedule.

Train the operator, evaluate them on the equipment and in the conditions they will work in, and certify in writing who was trained, who evaluated them and when.
