Common questions

How often is hazmat recurrent training required?

DOT 172.704 requires recurrent training every 3 years minimum. New employees must complete training within 90 days of starting hazmat duties. CDL Schools USA sends 90/60/30/7-day alerts before expiration.

Does this replace the hazmat endorsement (H) knowledge test?

No. This is awareness training required for ALL employees handling hazmat in transport. The H endorsement is a separate CDL test for drivers who transport placardable quantities. Both are needed for hazmat drivers.

What are the penalties for non-compliance?

Civil penalties range from $1,000 to $81,993 per violation. Criminal penalties can reach $500,000 and 5 years imprisonment for willful violations. Driver disqualification and company Out-of-Service orders are also possible.
