Module 1: Introduction to Forklift Safety & OSHA Regulations
Overview of OSHA 1910.178 requirements, forklift types, hazard awareness, and the importance of proper training.
What the rest of the course covers
- Pre-Operation Inspection & Controls. Daily inspection requirements, control familiarization, fuel/battery safety, and identifying mechanical issues before operation.
- Safe Operating Procedures. Proper driving techniques, speed limits, pedestrian safety, ramps & inclines, parking procedures, and refueling safely.
- Load Handling & Workplace Hazards. Load capacity, stability triangle, stacking procedures, common workplace hazards, and emergency procedures.
Each module ends in a quiz, and the course ends in a final assessment. Passing issues a certificate with a unique ID that anyone can check on our public verification page.
What this course does and does not do
OSHA 29 CFR 1910.178(l) splits operator training into formal instruction, practical training, and an evaluation of the operator in the workplace. This course is the formal instruction. The practical training and the evaluation happen on the employer's own trucks, and under 1910.178(l)(6) it is the employer who certifies the operator. OSHA does not approve or accredit training providers, so nobody can sell you an OSHA-approved card.
